Made this tutorial, thought I'd share it. <3

001. As most icon tutorials state, the first thing you do is crop and resize your image. You can sharpen it now, but I didn't. We'll talk about that later.

002. Once that's done, copy your image and set it to screen, 100%. Copy your screen layer. You should now have two screen layers. This brightens it up, as the original image was pretty dark. It will probably look too bright, and depending on the image you use, you may have to fiddle with it a bit, but right now you'll want it too look a little too bright.

-->

003. Now we'll start on the coloring. Go to layers > new adjustment layer > channel mixer. Plug in the following settings:

RED
red (%) : 200
green (%) : -107
blue (%) : 0

GREEN
red (%) : -89
green (%) : 200
blue (%) : 0

BLUE
red (%) : -44
green (%) : 53
blue (%) : 100

You'll definitely have to fiddle with it to match your images, but with mine, these settings enhanced the reds and the whites, giving them more color.

-->

004. Create a new raster layer (layers > new raster layer) and set it to exclusion, 70% opacity, and fill it with #0F1325. This step gives the icon a nice yellow-y tint.

-->

005. Create another new raster layer, set it to burn at 60%. Fill it with the color #DAF3FA. This step I guess isn't really that important, but I like the blue/green-ish effect it gives.

-->

006. Duplicate the original image and bring it to the top. Set it to soft light, 50% opacity. You can fiddle with this, of course, to fit your image. All this layer serves to do is take out the 'fogginess' of the image and darken it a little.

-->

007. Last step! Go to layers > new adjustment layer > hue/saturation/lightness. Bump up the saturation some. I did mine by 15, but it all really depends on your image. This just makes the image brighter, and makes the colors stand out more. Merge all your layers. This would be where I would sharpen the image, but I decided not to this time.

-->

Now you're done! Hope you understood, hope it helps, and I hope you had fun! <3
